Weil ein Disziplinar-Verfahren gegen den Rekordspieler seines Landes eröffnet wurde, setzt es eine vorläufige Suspendierung, die bis zu einer Entscheidung provisorisch aufrecht bleibt.
Ronaldo selbst schlug eine Sanktion vor, nachdem er sich in einem öffentlichen Statement für seine vorzeitige Abreise aus Portugals Teamcamp entschuldigte. Er rechne mit einer Strafe oder Sperre, stünde dem Nationalteam danach aber wieder zur Verfügung.
