The Austrian football national team needed no more than seven seconds to take the lead in their friendly match against Slovakia on Saturday.
From kick-off, RB Leipzig's Christoph Baumgartner dribbled through the opposing ranks and put his attempt from outside the box in the bottom-left corner of the Slovakian goal.
According to "ORF," Baumgartner has thus set a new world record. Never before has a goal been scored faster in an official international soccer match.
The previous record was held by Belgian Christian Benteke, who scored after 8.1 seconds in a World Cup 2018 qualifying match against Gibraltar.
The game ended with a 2:0 victory for Austria.
