Große Ehre für Alex Ovechkin.

Nach dem Gewinn des Stanley Cups mit den Washington Capitals und der Auszeichnung zum Playoff-MVP räumt der Russe auch bei den prestigeträchtigen ESPY-Awards in den USA ab. Ovechkin wird als erster NHL-Spieler mit dem Preis für den besten männlichen Sportler ausgezeichnet. Dabei setzt er sich unter anderem gegen Tom Brady und James Harden durch.

Zudem wird Ovechkin bei den ESPYS zum besten NHL-Spieler gekürt. Die Capitals ziehen im Rennen um das beste Team gegen die Houston Astros den Kürzeren.
